The Essex Walk - Harwich to Manningtree
The President led 26 of his disciples across the glorious countryside of North East Essex. We were blessed with perfect weather and ably guided by our secretary Catherine Brosnan. We met at the train station and were greeted by Chris Strachan and friend who played us a fanfare to send us on our way! The walk along the Coastal Path out of Harwich was particularly beautiful.
We paused at half way on the beach near Wrabness station and - like a rabbit out of the hat - she pulled a bottle of Society port from her day pack and we all toasted a great day in fine style!
The walk was 16 miles and with picnic took 7 hours.
It was all agreed that exercising body and soul in such congenial company was the perfect antidote to the frustrations of Lockdown and we parted with our spirits soaring and Mike Hamblin still puzzling "How does Clover stay so fit?"

Ex President Paul Marfleet contacted me to say: 'After retiring, I wanted to see if I could write more songs as well as sing them. I have spent the last year recording my songs and feel that at last I can call myself a singer-songwriter! It's never too late! Last week saw the release of my debut solo album - 'On The Edge' It may serve as a distraction/light relief for fellow members.'
